I’m not educated on the history of this quote and I honestly can’t say what Ben Stein meant when he said this, but to me, “somewhere there is a map of how it can be done” is almost a perfect explanation of why I love my job.
Officially I am a ‘Location Data Analyst"‘, if I were to give my self a title I would suggest a “Geospatial Developer”, when I fill out official forms I write “Data Analyst” and when someone asks I’ll always just say “I make maps”.
Whilst its famously hard in my field to describe our job, we can be certain there is a lot of data, a multitude of complexity and a number of different relationships. Despite all this, there is always a solution, or in other words, there is, in fact, quite literally always a map of how it can be done. Sometimes it’s just a puzzle to find that map, lucky for me, I like puzzles.
I’ve put together this little website to showcase the work I do, and to share some maps of how it can be done.
